After a year in government and a litany of post-election promises to save automotive jobs, the Liberals have failed to implement a real plan or secure a deal to get out from under Trump's unjustified tariffs on our exports.
Oshawa autoworkers, their families and our community need results soon – before it's too late.
Realistically, there are no other equivalent markets for Canadian-built automobiles as less than 5% are sold outside of North America. Without tariff-free access to the huge American market, Canadian assembly and parts-making plants simply won't survive.

On March 15, 2026 Rhonda joined Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre and Conservative MPs representing several automotive-anchored cities to propose a real plan of action that will:
1. Make it easier to build and buy Canadian by removing the goods and services tax (GST) on all Canadian-built vehicles; ending electric vehicle (EV) subsidies and the Liberals' counterproductive ZEV mandate – which remains in place despite Prime Minister Carney's promise to scrap it – and, harmonize Canada's light duty vehicle (LDV) emissions regulations with our North American partners;
2. Restore Ontario production by implementing a new rule where for every car produced in Canada, the same manufacturer would get to sell a car in Canada, duty-free, from a Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) partner, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, similar to the 1965 Canada–US Auto Pact;
3. Protect North American supply chains by maintaining the minimum 75 per cent North American vehicle content and existing CUSMA rules of origin;

4. Develop automotive security and technology by creating a harmonized North American cybersecurity and data standard, while banning vehicles using Chinese or Russian-connected software; and,
5. Stand firm against unfair trade by aligning with our North American partners on Chinese vehicle tariffs to ensure maximum Canadian leverage in the upcoming CUSMA renegotiations.
Oshawa autoworkers and our entire community are grateful for your support.
Support our Plan for Urgent Action
We, the undersigned, call upon the Liberal government to collaborate with the Conservative Opposition and urgently implement this plan to protect Canadian automotive manufacturing jobs and rebuild our country's imperiled assembly and parts-making footprint.
