The Office of Rhonda Kirkland, MP-Elect (hereafter the "Office"), including persons or organizations acting on our behalf, as well as the Office's employees, volunteers, or representatives (collectively, the "Office", "we" or "us") will respect your privacy through the protection of any personal information that you may provide to us.

Our Office's takes special care to keep both confidential and secure all personal information in our possession.

This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information that is collected, used, or disclosed by the Office, whether it is collected electronically via our website or other digital platforms (each shall be considered a "site"), either in person or by telephone. This Policy applies to all sites on which it is posted.

 

What "Personal Information" Do We Collect? 

"Personal information" is information about an identifiable individual and may include personal contact information that we collect such as an individual's name, address, email address and telephone number. We may also collect information regarding your residence, family members, language preference, political views or any other information that an individual may choose to share with us.

Collecting Personal Information
In addition, we generally collect personal information directly from individuals who interact with our Office. We may also collect personal information from publicly available data or sources. Annually, each November, Elections Canada will furnish the Office with a list of eligible voters residing in the Oshawa federal electoral district, namely those registered electors residing south of Taunton Rd in the City of Oshawa.

We may collect personal information from consitutents when they correspond with the Office. You may choose to provide us with personal information on a voluntary basis, such as when registering for an event, signing up on our site, contacting the Office, or submitting a form at rhondakirklandmp.ca/contact or the Member's social media channels.

If you submit your e-mail address and/or personal information through one of our sites, you consent to being added to our e-mail or text list. You may unsubscribe from our e-mail or text list at any time using the link provided in each message.

Usage and Disclosure of Personal Information
We use your personal information to communicate with you. As a political entity, we believe it is important to communicate with supporters, prospective supporters, and constituents on a regular basis.

The Office's database and lists generated from it are used for activities such as outreach or to customize our visitors' experience for the purposes of communicating with you.

Additionally, non-personal information may be collected by the Office through the use of cookies, including third-party cookies. Cookies help us to track how people are using our site and assist the Office in tailoring customized content to visitors or constituents. We may use this information to improve our site or assist with advertising. Any visitor may opt-out of the advertising features used by our site or others by adjusting their ads settings, or using a free opt-out tool offered by Canada's Digital Advertising Alliance at https://youradchoices.ca/en/tools.

Protecting your Personal Information
Our Office maintains physical, organizational, and technological security systems to safeguard your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse, and from loss or unauthorized alteration. This includes encrypting electronic data, keeping any paper-based information in secure filing cabinets, limiting who in the Office's organization has access to it, and utilizing all available digital protections and firewalls.

The Member and her Office staff are trained in the appropriate use of personal information. This training focuses on best practices for the appropriate collection, use, disclosure, safeguarding, retention and destruction of personal information.

We will not sell any personal information that you have chosen to provide to us to third parties.
