The higher the pump price, the more the Carney Liberals are raking in a windfall in GST and the federal excise tax, with estimates suggesting $5 billion to $9 billion in added revenue as fuel costs exceed $1.82/L.
In recent weeks, other major economies such as Australia, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, and the UK have moved quickly to slash taxes on fuels and give their residents a break.
But here in Canada? The Carney Liberals have offered nothing for working families.
Conservatives are calling for a suspension of federal fuel taxes until the end of 2026.

Our Petition
Whereas Canadians are paying about 20% more for fuel than our US neighbours, with prices near $1.78/L in Canada versus $1.50/L in the US;
Whereas Liberal taxes add a total of about $0.25/L (including an extra $0.10/L in excise tax, an extra $0.07/L from the Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) tax, and $0.08/L in GST);
Whereas These Liberal policies will cost Canadian families up to $1,218 extra this year and drive up the price of groceries, housing, and transportation;
Whereas the Carney Liberals continue to hike or rebrand carbon taxes, including increasing the industrial carbon tax toward $170 per tonne, despite rising our affordability crisis.
Therefore, We the undersigned support the Conservatives' common sense call to eliminate all federal taxes on gasoline and diesel until the end of 2026 and permanently repeal the CFS tax to lower costs.
